A study published September 17 in PLOS Medicine links differences in sleep patterns to later disease diagnoses, adding evidence that sleep deserves attention in research on long-term health. Its findings also expose a difficult measurement problem: estimating sleep stages from wrist movement is useful for studying large populations, but those estimates have important limits.
